A venture idea I thought of is selling school supplies near the school. It would be easier for students to get school supplies near the school rather than having to go to the mall or another location to get it. Though there’s competition like the school itself, school supplies stores manage to sell a lot more during times like end of summer break or each semester or term. Also school supplies are cheap and affordable so it’ll be able to lure in a lot of costumers. Also, school supplies can also be bought by parents or adults. They will need it for work and other uses.
Another venture idea I thought of is selling bicycles and also being a repair shop. This will promote the use of using a bicycle rather than having to take a car to school which pollutes the air. There will definitely have competition like cars, and buses, but the school may be able to promote the use of bicycle. It should also sell other products in the store like helmets, drinks, shoulder pads, etc. Not only that, it should also be a repair store for bicycles. This attracts costumers because it's a way to help the environment go green. This may also lure in other costumers, like adults, and possibly elementary students near the area. They could use it for fun or exercising. This product may be sold the most during summer bcause it's a great sense of exercise and also it's good for the weather.

ReplyDeleteBoth of these ventures are very different from each other. I especially liked the first venture idea which is to sell school supplies near the school. The good thing about this idea is that students and their parents dont need to take extra time to go out or any long distance place to purchase these items. Also these supplies are cheap compared to places usually students get their supplies from such as Superstore or Staples. I wouldn't think this venture idea would get any compeition because most of the time teachers don't like to lend their supplies to the students which will push students to go buy their own supplies. The second venture idea to promote bicycling is a great idea but I feel it won't be so successful compared to the first venture idea. This would attract more the adults than the youth because the youth are lazy they like to be driven around and are more motivated to get their driver licence. I think both of these venture ideas are excellent. One its helping the students and their parents. Second its helping the environment and a healthy way to travel but the first venture idea would be more successful and profitable.

I think this is a good idea but I don't think students would buy it. The reason is because parents usually buy school supplies in Superstore and other big stores because they trust those stores comparing to a small business. Also, Superstore or other markets would sell supplies in packages that are very cheap. Unless you can lower your price and make it in packages, I don't think the business would last.
ReplyDeleteFor the bike idea, I think that it's a great idea for the enviroment but I don't think students would buy them. Bike are usually expensive which students can't afford them. Also, I think most students have bikes already. Unless, you make a survey asking if they have a bike or not and if they would buy bike equipments.

I really like the stationary idea because I think it would be very convenient for everyone if there was a stationary store close to our school.
ReplyDeleteI think that the bike idea will be harder to accomplish because you would need to learn how to repair bikes first. Although it is great for the environment, I would rather go to Sport Check to buy a bike because it is legitimate with warranty.
I like the idea of selling stationary at the school. It would be neat to see the outcome. If I remember correctly, Trojan Junior sold them for a while.
ReplyDeleteThe bicycle idea would be difficult to make successful in my opinion. With the older grades turning 16 and being able to get their drivers license, I think that they will try any way to drive to school. Afterall, we're all still kids and kids are lazy.
The stationary venture at school sounds like an interesting idea. It would not be an expensive investment and it is the type of product that everyone aways uses. However, many people have all their stationary already so it might be hard trying to selling to them unless you can offer them great, cheap deals.
ReplyDeleteThe bicycle idea is different but the way I see it, it may be hard to establish the business. Like Linda said, customers go to places for repairs that have a trusted name. Also, if it was you fixing the bike, and running the business by yourself, it would be time consuming and require lots of work.
I like your idea of selling school supplies near by schools. I believe it would work very well because students who maybe waiting for parents to pick them up could always go to the school supply store to have a look and maybe buying something as well. But the start up cost of this business would include getting a place which is very expensive.
ReplyDeleteI don't like your second idea of bicycle store or fixing store because just because you have a bicycle store doesnt mean people would go purchase one and choose to be ecofriendly, we are aging, and we are of legal age of driving. Why ride a bicycle in this cold weather when we could be in a warm air conditioned car?
Selling stationary in or near a school area is a great idea, probably because the biggest thing is the convenience factor. Sometimes people lose things and need to replace them quickly.
ReplyDeleteA bicycle store is kind of controversial. Success will largely depend on customer behavior, if they do not support or care for eco-friendly actions then a bicycle store will not be as high in demand. It could also depend on your advertising, as well as how other businesses in the local area advertise, because advertisements from one business can be used by others, for example, promoting "green" behavior.
THe idea of selling stationary would work due to the demand when people would actually need some supplies if they ran out and it would be inconvienent to get it elsewhere at the time being.
ReplyDeleteAs for the bicycle shop, it may be difficult due to the customer base and start-up costs associated with doing this. And the effort to be put into this will be large due to repairing bicycles.

I like your first idea because I always ran out of paper and leads and it will be really convenience to have a store nearby that sells it, but price is also really important. How are you going to set your price because if it’s too expensive students will probably go to superstore and buy it?
ReplyDeleteFor your second idea about the bike, I don’t think it will be successful because students will probably not going to buy a bike since a bike is pretty expensive. Student will probably walk or take the bus instead of biking. There is also one problem where would they put their bikes if they need to go in to a store.

There are other bicycle shops out there so there might be competition. Also, it is true that people would prefer driving over biking because of the convenience. I like the idea of promoting a greener environment.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of selling school supplies around the school because it's a lot more convenient. No one wants to go all the way to the mall to get a certain supply they're missing.
ReplyDeleteYour second idea would less likely be successful because bicycles costs quite a bit. Also if you were to start this business, you'll need an area to park all the bicycles.
The convenience of selling school supplies at school seems to be profitable but there can arise many problems such as the sensitive price adjustments. Overall I think this idea is moderate and could make a profit but not a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe second venture idea will have high start up costs. You don't see many people riding bikes now a days. Overall I think this idea is very risky to start.
Several people have already mentioned the idea of selling school supplies and like i said i feel like it wouldn't be that successful. Supplies are available in many stores near us and would probably be cheaper. Also it would be more trustworthy, customers need to trust that its brand new and not used or ripped off.
ReplyDeleteThe second idea is very cute and creative, I've never heard of this service near us and i think it would be convenient to student bike riders, even teachers! good idea!
Selling school supplies within the school is very beneficial to not only your business but with other students who run out or who always forget to refill their needs out of school. It definitely brings convenience to be selling at school. But I was just wondering where you’d stock or store your supplies and where and what times you’re going to sell them?
ReplyDeleteThe second venture idea of promoting bikes is always good because going green is today’s most popular trends to follow but I was just wondering if you’d be able to manage bikes on your own? Would you have to hire people to help you? What is the start up cost? Where are you going to keep all of the equipment you want to sell or the things that will help you fix bikes? And what is your location?
Overall, school supplies are always a must with succeeding in school and it is nice to see you care about going green. Good luck on your venture Anna! :)
Selling school supplies and stationary is a great idea. Though I rarely find myself running out of supplies, I am sure other students from the students do. This idea is very convenient for students. They won’t have to travel all the way to a stationary store; instead they can also purchase cheap supplies at school.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Linda's comment on the bike idea.
I like your idea of selling stationary near the school but where exactly and how? Are you planning on renting a place and setting up your shop there? If you are then you have a lot more research to do in terms of prices. Renting a place is not very cheap and there are a lot of other formalities that are associated with opening up a store. Realistically, I think there's too much of a high start-up cost in the business and a very small margin for profit.
ReplyDeleteYour second idea is very sustainable but considering your target market, it might not be very popular. What I mean to say is that youths these days are not very active or are crazy about riding bikes. For the ones that are into bike riding, I think they would go to a more professional and well-established bike shop like Sportcheck. Therefore, your business selling or repairing bikes doesn't seem to have much of a potential market.
